I am writing to express my deep concerns regarding the lack of funding for children and adults with severe treatment-resistant epilepsy who have been forced to pay for medicinal cannabis since the law changed in 2018 due to NHS blocks. I kindly request your assistance in addressing this urgent issue. As you may be aware, the current situation has placed a heavy financial burden on individuals and families who rely on medicinal cannabis to manage their epilepsy symptoms. The cost of these treatments can be up to £2,000, which is overwhelming and unaffordable for many. This has resulted in significant hardships and unnecessary suffering for those affected by severe treatment-resistant epilepsy. I am pleased to inform you that a drop-in event was held on the 8th of November in Parliament, where a number of MPs attended and signed a letter to the Prime Minister, urging him to provide an urgent funding scheme for individuals with severe treatment-resistant epilepsy.
